Charlotte Update

Well, after a very long weekend and lots of tears, we finally saw the orthopedic specialist yesterday (Monday) morning. Of course, it took almost an hour from the time we arrived until the time they actually saw her, but it was well worth the wait. We saw the elbow specialists' PA, who was awesome and consulted repeatedly with the elbow guru, himself. They x-rayed both arms so they could compare and found everything right where it should be. All growth plates look good, no chips or cracks and no compression anywhere. She had amazing range of motion that they were very pleased by and very little pain. On a scale of 0-10 the most pain she felt when the doctor pushed was a 4. Apparently, when one dislocates a bone, all the ligaments tear, so that's what will take time to heal. At this point, she is in a cast, that they were pleased to get into a 90 degree position and we go back in 2 weeks to the elbow man, himself. At that point, they'll check to see how the ligaments are coming back together. In the meantime, competition is over for her for the year, which made her very sad, but they did give her some exercises she could do with her arm to keep it strong and she is able to go work out for about 2 hours each practice day and do strength and conditioning work. Fortunately, she has two buddies who are coming back from surgery/injury to work with, so it makes it a little more fun. She is in pretty good spirits and loves her fluorescent green and hot pink cast (of course it's only been on for 1 day). We did get a great thing to put over it, so she can shower (or so I can shower her) and that made her feel much better. All the thoughts and prayers have been such a blessing to her. In her morphine induced sappiness at the hospital, she proclaimed through, "Tears of Happiness....that I feel so loved." She is one very lucky little girl and she is very blessed by all the well wishes, so thank you!

Oh I am so grateful you found a moment to make this post. I can't wait to give my girl lovies. I am going to hug her and squeeze her real tight. I do love how my Char Char has maintained her solid fashion sense through all this. Excellent color choices on the cast. One question: Does Chino think her cast is a chew toy? I hope not. :0)

I LOVE YOU CHARLOTTE!!!
