Roxx and I were catching after the wrap up of my parent conferences last night... She asked me, "How many years have you been teaching?" "17," I answered. "What's 25 x 17?" she asked. "Too tired to do the math - I just finished parent conferences and I only teach 3rd grade--that's too hard!" I replied. But she had my attention. I started to realize where she was going with this. She wanted me to see how many families I have worked with. So I did the math. "425 families," I told her. "That's just on a 25 student average - some classes were bigger," Roxx replied, and continued to sing my praises. That made me feel really good because "that" is why I went into education. To work with families. Not just the students, but the families. My vision for each student is to be part of their team, with their parents, with each student as captain of their own team. I am extremely fortunate to live in a community I love, teaming with with families and teachers I adore. I am blessed. However, in back to the beginning, while I am blessed I did just wrap up my 425th parent conference. No wonder I'm a bit blurred today! :0) That's why God made coffee and tea!
